Within Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex JSC, a militarized emergency-rescue detachment operated from 2004 to 2006. On its basis, in 2006, the Civil Protection Unit of Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex JSC was established.

The Civil Protection Unit is an independent structural subdivision of the complex and operates in a state of constant readiness to carry out emergency rescue and other urgent tasks.
