The Copper Processing Plant-3, which is being built by Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Combine and is recognized as the project of the century, is currently implementing the modern and advanced technologies. All of the technologies being implemented are digitalized, and working with these technologies requires the necessary knowledge and skills from specialists. Taking into account these factors, the order was adopted on the addition of modules and topics based on the technology of the Copper Processing Plant-3 to the educational program of the Almalyk branch of NUST “MISiS”, development of students' knowledge and skills, and creation of the working group.

According to this order, the working group was established to train competitive and highly qualified specialists in line with the needs of AMMC, taking into account the automated control systems, industrial control, artificial intelligence and digital solutions introduced in the production process of the CPP-3 based on modern technologies of copper enrichment. For the purpose of analysis and monitoring, the working group will analyze the existing curricula and disciplines at the Almalyk branch of NUST “MISiS”, and fully study the automated and digital processes in the CPP-3. In order to form new knowledge and skills, a list of new professional competencies and practical skills will be developed at the CPP-3. Directions will be set for applications used in production, data analysis, and artificial intelligence solutions. During the preparation of the offer of modules and subjects, a system of subjects will be developed based on modern modules and cases for the bachelor's degree.

It is noteworthy that new modules in the educational process will be linked to practical training.

The final proposals of the working group and the requirements for the profession will be presented to the management of JSC “Almalyk MMC” and the University.

Yesterday, a meeting was held with the participation of members of the working group, specialists of the Training Center and the Copper Processing Plant-3.

The meeting was devoted to studying digital solutions and equipment (TJABT, SCADA, ERP, MES, artificial intelligence systems) used at the CPP-3, forming a project structure of new modules and training cases, and training teachers of the Almalyk branch of NUST “MISiS” on new topics training issues were discussed.

The goal of the new project is to timely prepare specialists with higher education for the CPP-3. In addition, it is planned to fully implement modules focused on digital transformation and plant’s equipment, which are planned to be completed by June 2026 and subsequently included in the standard training program in accordance with the requirements of JSC “Almalyk MMC”.
