Artificial Intelligence Technologies are Being Implemented at AMMC Mines

21 July 2025, 13:5 1160

In the context of the rapid development of science and information and communication technologies, the capabilities of artificial intelligence are increasingly being used in various fields, including industry. Production processes have not remained untouched by this transformation.

Thus, at the “Qalmakyr” and “Yoshlik I” mines of the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Combine, the automated control system for the mining and transport complex is being gradually introduced. Its main task is to ensure effective management using modern digital solutions and artificial intelligence.

Now dump trucks, excavators, drilling and auxiliary machines are equipped with special hardware and technical means that allow collecting and processing data online.

As experts note, the system automatically distributes dump trucks to excavators with maximum efficiency. Online planning and control of drilling operations is also being introduced. The advantages of this system include the ability to optimally manage cargo flows, promptly record and control production processes, monitor operating modes, increase labor productivity, reduce costs and increase production volumes without additional capital investments.

The system is being implemented in stages in cooperation with a contracting company. The first stage of digitalization covers production processes at the “Qalmakyr” and “Yoshlik I” mines.

It is separately emphasized that the system plays a key role in ensuring uninterrupted and uniform transportation of ore mass to the copper processing plant and dumps. In addition, it allows reducing the costs of operation and maintenance of equipment.

The system integrates modules for assessing personnel productivity and safety. For example, video recorders and analytical video surveillance systems help prevent emergency situations, monitor compliance with safety requirements, analyze driver actions, record incidents and automatically recognize potentially dangerous situations. The downtime of equipment is reduced, the efficiency of mining and transport complex management is increased, as well as the productivity of drilling and blasting operations.

In short, the use of artificial intelligence in management allows for a significant increase in productivity and a reduction in production costs.
