AMMC and Strategic Partners: Focus on Future Priorities

05 November 2025, 13:0 548

The Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex (AMMC) — which has established a full production chain from raw materials to finished products — is seeing strong interest from many leading global companies in partnering.
In recent years, numerous foreign companies have visited AMMC, expressing their desire to establish mutually beneficial cooperation.

On 4 November this year, representatives from China’s Jinchuan Group and Switzerland’s Industrial Minerals visited the complex. During discussions, future collaboration opportunities were a central focus.
Guests were first taken on tours of the “Suyurlitepa” memorial museum at the “Metallurg” Palace of Culture and the museum dedicated to the complex’s history.
In a meeting with AMMC leadership, a range of cooperation issues were discussed. It was noted that the People’s Republic of China remains a reliable strategic partner for Uzbekistan; the possibility of expanding and deepening cooperation in mineral resources and processing was explored.

For reference: Jinchuan Group is one of the world’s leading producers of nickel, cobalt and copper products, and ranks 84th on the Fortune Global 500 list. The company’s advanced technologies, resource‑processing experience, and global reputation are of significant importance to Uzbekistan. Cooperating with its representatives, new cooperation directions were discussed.

Meanwhile, relations with Industrial Minerals are also developing. In June 2025 in Almalyk, a meeting was held where mutual interest was expressed in purchasing Uzbek copper concentrates, metallurgical products and wastes, setting up exports via the Poti terminal, and signing long‑term contracts. Ideas were exchanged for implementing these arrangements.

In an atmosphere of genuine cooperation, both sides agreed on developing mining‑industry collaboration, introducing advanced technologies and high value‑added production, increasing exports, creating new jobs and preparing skilled personnel.

During their visit the guests also reviewed the operations of the Kalmakyr Mine and Yoshlik‑1 Mine and toured the newly constructed 3rd Copper Concentrator Plant.

For reference, Jinchuan Group Co., Ltd was founded in 1958 and is a state‑owned enterprise headquartered in Gansu Province. The company is primarily engaged in ore mining, processing, metallurgy, chemical production and manufacturing high‑tech metal products. As of today, Jinchuan Group ranks second globally in nickel production, fourth in China for cobalt, third for copper, and first in Asia for platinum‑group metal extraction.
Industrial Minerals is a private company active in raw‑materials trade and logistics, primarily dealing with copper and precious‑metal derived materials. Its core operations cover copper, gold, silver and molybdenum concentrates; it also works with copper‑industry by‑products (various slags, metallurgical dusts), as well as in the gold and zinc‑lead industries.
