On October 22 of this year, an educational and awareness-raising event titled “Preventing Religious Extremism and Radicalization” was held at the “Metallurg” Palace of Culture. The event aimed to enhance the effectiveness of spiritual and educational efforts, promote national, moral, and ethical consciousness, and strengthen a healthy social environment in society.

The meeting was attended by deputy heads of structural divisions of “Almalyk MMC” JSC responsible for safeguarding material assets, chairpersons of the Youth Union, the Women and Gender Equality Advisory Council, and company employees.

At the beginning of the event, participants were shown the film “The Value of Peace”. The film vividly portrayed the horrors of war and unrest in conflict zones around the world—acts of brutality, devastating consequences of religious extremism and radicalization, destroyed homes, shattered hopes, lost lives, and the cries of grieving mothers. It also highlighted the tragic fate of some of our compatriots who were deceived into traveling to these war zones.

Speakers emphasized that every individual must cherish and preserve peace within their family and homeland. True happiness lies in living in peace—falling asleep with a calm mind and waking up to a bright and peaceful morning.

During the event, Imam Dilmurod Husanov of the Uzbekistan Muslim Board and Jamshid Pardayev, representative of the Committee on Religious Affairs in Almalyk, addressed the audience. They spoke about the importance of ensuring spiritual stability, maintaining a pure ideological environment in society, protecting youth from harmful ideologies, and being vigilant against religious extremism and fanaticism.

It was also noted that religion has never been a source of violence or hatred; rather, it calls people to kindness, compassion, tolerance, and unity.

Speakers underlined the need to counteract groups spreading harmful ideologies under the guise of religion on social media with enlightenment and knowledge. Raising public awareness and vigilance was highlighted as one of the most crucial tasks of today.

The meeting continued in a sincere atmosphere with a question-and-answer session.

This event, aimed at strengthening spirituality, enlightenment, and national consciousness, undoubtedly deepened the participants’ sense of critical thinking, awareness, and appreciation for peace.
