IRTD: Localization Giving Result

12 February 2026, 14:40 332

As a result of the systematic and targeted work of specialists at Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex, the company is consistently mastering the production of spare parts and components previously imported.

The implementation of the Localization Program in the Industrial Rail Transport Department has been particularly effective. Mastering the production of a number of imported products has significantly reduced foreign exchange costs and increased production efficiency.

Two years ago, the Complex began manufacturing the lower frames of motorized dump cars for the PE2M(U) traction unit, which are the primary means of transport for hauling ore from quarries. Today, the company has taken the next important step: establishing in-house production of motorized dump car bodies for the same model.

According to the specialists, during continuous operation, the bodies of the PE2M(U) traction units become deformed, developing cracks that allow water to penetrate the traction motors and cable assemblies. Furthermore, when loading and unloading rock, the load-bearing part of the dump car body bends, leading to a loss of the dump car's performance. This, in turn, increases the number of unscheduled repairs.

Manufacturing motor dump car bodies at the plant significantly reduces equipment downtime, reduces the volume of unscheduled repairs, and ensures timely delivery of rock.

According to calculations, purchasing one "PE2M(U)" motor dump car body from abroad costs 829,572,115 UZS. Manufacturing this spare part in-house costs 374,942,641 UZS. The IRTD needs two bodies annually, and by producing them locally, the total cost savings reach 909,258,947 UZS.

Currently, this spare part is produced in Railroad Shop No. 3.

In 2025, the workshop's stock was expanded with a number of vehicles and specialized machines. Specifically, three Labo and Chevrolet Damas motor vehicles were purchased, significantly facilitating day-to-day operations and promoting the smooth organization of production processes. Furthermore, the purchase of the MPT-1A diesel shunting locomotive will undoubtedly ensure high productivity during railway construction work.
