From October 7 to 10 this year, a training program for corporate secretaries of state-owned enterprises was organized at the Westminster International University in Tashkent within the framework of the Chapter Zero Uzbekistan initiative.

The training was aimed at enhancing the qualifications of corporate secretaries in accordance with current legislation, listing regulations, and international standards. Representatives of the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex (AMMC) also took part in the event.

As part of the training program, participants attended lectures on topics such as: “Legal Framework for Regulating Joint-Stock companies in Uzbekistan”, “Duties of Corporate Secretaries and Internal Procedures”, “The Role of the Corporate Secretary in Enhancing the Effectiveness of the Supervisory Board”, and “Modern Practices in Corporate Governance”.

For reference, Chapter Zero Uzbekistan operates at the Westminster International University in Tashkent as a center for promoting best practices in corporate and climate governance. The initiative is part of the International Climate Governance Initiative (CGI), supported by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the Climate Investment Fund (CIF).

The main goal of the initiative is to help companies implement transparency, accountability, and long-term sustainability through training and knowledge sharing.
