Second emulsion explosives plant launched under the “Yoshlik I” mining project

25 October 2025, 15:8 749

As part of the investment project to develop the “Yoshlik I” mine, the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex (AMMC) has completed the construction and commissioning of a new Emulsion Explosives Plant.

The opening ceremony was attended by Abdulla Khursanov, Chairman of the Management Board of AMMC, heads of various departments, and honored labor veterans.

In his remarks, Abdulla Khursanov highlighted the strategic importance of the new facility in implementation of major investment projects. He emphasized that the plant was built in full compliance with modern industry standards.

During the event, a group of specialists and construction workers who made a significant contribution to the project were awarded valuable gifts.

The ceremonial ribbon was cut by industry veterans, officially marking the start of production.

Built to support blasting operations at the “Kalmakyr” and “Yoshlik I” mines, the plant manufactures emulsion explosives using modern technology, locally sourced components, and a universal production process that meets international standards.

Designed to produce up to 90,000 tonnes of emulsion explosives annually, the plant strictly adheres to both local and international safety regulations at every stage of production.

Environmentally friendly and energy-efficient, the facility includes systems for waste control, energy optimization, and full compliance with international environmental standards.

One of the plant’s key innovations is the efficient reuse of technical water. A treatment unit has been installed to process and purify up to 25 cubic meters of water per day, which is then returned to the production cycle. Previously, wastewater was discharged into reservoirs. This technology significantly reduces water consumption and lowers production costs.

To support green energy initiatives, a solar photovoltaic station has also been installed on site. It fully supplies electricity to the administrative building.

Digitalization has been widely introduced at the plant, ensuring a high level of safety and minimizing human involvement. Each production stage is controlled through centralized monitoring systems.

The construction of the plant was carried out using AMMC’s own resources. In particular, the works were implemented by the “Almalyk metallurgical construction” trust, the Specialized Repair Works Department, and contracting organizations.

The total cost of the project amounts to 81 billion UZS, and it has created 68 new jobs.

During the event, participants toured the facility and observed the production process firsthand.

For reference: The first emulsion explosives plant with AMMC was built in 1997. This newly commissioned facility is the second explosives production plant in the structure of the complex.
