18 August 2026, 8:34 461

Today, in the context of large-scale industrial modernization implemented in our country, the uninterrupted and efficient supply of manufacturing enterprises with necessary raw materials and reagents is of particular strategic importance. In this regard, the new lime plant being built by the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex in Farish district of Jizzakh region as part of the “Yoshlik I Deposit Development” investment project is a key project designed not only to meet the plant's internal needs but also to elevate the region’s industrial potential to a new level.

The total cost of the project, implemented in pursuance of the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. PP-4731 dated May 2, 2020, is 99.9 million US dollars. Once the plant reaches its design capacity, it will produce 2,200 tons of products per day, or 737 thousand tons per year. A key feature of the plant shall be its full adaptation to coal-fired operation, which will significantly reduce the cost of production.

The financial component of the project clearly demonstrates the Complex ability to independently and transparently attract external financing. An EPC contract was signed with the Chinese company Jiangsu Pengfei Group Co., Ltd., under which an advance payment of 15.0 million US dollars was transferred to the general contractor. In addition, a loan agreement for 84.8 million US dollars was concluded with the Bank of China, underwritten by Sinosure.

The source of raw material for enterprise shall be the local limestone deposits “Chimkurgon-1” and “Chimkurgon-2” located in Farish district. This will allow for the complete localization of the production chain. The project plans to create 323 new jobs in the region.

As of August 10, 2026, all necessary expert procedures have been successfully completed in order to thoroughly prepare the investment project for legal and technical aspects. The feasibility study for the project was officially approved by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers No. 302 dated June 11, 2026. The general contractor has manufactured modern technological equipment worth a total of 60.0 million US dollars and prepared it for shipment. In addition, approvals were received from urban planning, industrial safety, and state architectural and construction control authorities, which allowed construction work to officially begin.

Currently, the construction and installation phase is actively ongoing on the plant’s 21.2-hectare site. Mobilization work has been fully completed, with 20 units of specialty machinery deployed to the construction site. Concrete slabs have been laid in the administrative and amenity complex, the canteen, and the dormitory buildings for workers, and the construction of walls continues. The most important thing is that work has begun on excavation of a pit for the foundations of the plant’s main technological units.

At the same time, construction of the railway infrastructure necessary for transportation of finished products and arrangement of efficient logistics is proceeding at a rapid pace. Within the framework of this project, excavation and movement of soil with a total volume of 37,100 cubic meters was completed, and the degree of completion reached 95%. 2,264 reinforced concrete sleepers, as well as special beams for turnouts, were delivered to the project site. To ensure the facility has a stable power supply, grounding and cable channel installation work has been 100% completed. Four 110 kV overhead power line poles have been installed. The construction of the site and concrete foundations for two transformer substations with a capacity of 16,000 kVA each has also been completed.

There are 106 highly qualified specialists and workers working at the construction site. The labor resources are distributed taking into account the priority areas of the project: the main group – 80 people – is involved in the construction of administrative and residential buildings, 18 workers are engaged in the construction of the railway line, and another 8 specialists are performing complex electrical installation work.

The consistent and systematic implementation of this investment project will become an important foundation to provide to the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex of domestic raw materials. This modern plant, built using cutting-edge technology, will accelerate the development of not only our plant but also the industry of the entire New Uzbekistan in the coming years.
