New Industrial Site Under Construction at the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex

16 September 2025, 9:40 1048

Currently, as part of the “Yoshlik I” mine development investment project, preparatory works are being carried out at an accelerated pace. Due to the expansion of the mine, it has been decided to relocate the existing industrial service area—where bulldozers, BelAZ haul trucks, loading equipment, and other heavy mining machinery at the “Kalmakyr” mine are maintained—to a new location, and practical work has already begun.

The new “Kalmakyr” industrial site is planned to be built outside the “Yoshlik I” mine territory. Construction has already started and is being carried out by the “Almalyk metallurgical construction” Trust.

The facility spans 4.8 hectares, with a total planned budget of 140,794,280,636 UZS. To date, construction work worth 7,354,176,656 UZS has been completed.

According to Ziyovuddin Turdaliyev, Lead Engineer for Industrial Site Construction at the “Yoshlik I” Mine Department, the new industrial area will include: an administrative building, warehouses for material storage, inspection shelters for vehicle diagnostics, a mechanical repair workshop, gas and welding cutting stations, a concrete platform, an underground tank for used oil and a platform for oil drainage, a container zone for fuel and lubricants, storage shelters for empty drums, a vehicle washing station, water treatment facilities, a modular pump station

In addition, the site will include: a solid household waste area, a diesel power station, a firewater reservoir, storage facilities for nitrogen, oxygen, and propane cylinders, security checkpoints, reservoirs for industrial and stormwater, a workers’ hygiene building, a parking area, an external transformer substation, a water supply pumping station and fire pump station.

To date, 645,000 cubic meters of earthworks have been completed. Foundation work and rebar installation are in progress across the buildings. At the administrative building, the foundation is complete, and waterproofing and backfilling operations are underway. The perimeter of the site has been fully fenced with reinforced concrete barriers.

Construction is scheduled to be completed by the end of the first quarter of 2026.

A notable innovation is the installation of a special overhead crane shelter capable of lifting the engine blocks of 220-ton BelAZ haul trucks—a feature that did not exist at previous industrial sites.

Aligned with green energy goals, a solar-powered water heating system will also be installed to supply hot water for employee facilities and domestic needs.

To shorten the construction timeline, energy-efficient sandwich panels are being used as lightweight wall structures. These modern materials also contribute to thermal insulation and energy savings.

In summary, this new industrial site will play a critical role in the technological production chain of the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex.
