AMMC: Molybdenum output plan met ahead of schedule

13 November 2025, 8:8 453

At the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex, several rare metals are produced alongside copper.

In particular, the Copper Concentrator Plant extracts a molybdenum intermediate product together with copper concentrate.

The plant’s team successfully fulfilled the annual forecast for molybdenum intermediate production as early as November – ahead of schedule – reaching 100.5% of the plan. Against the target of 732.7 tonnes, actual production amounted to 736.5 tonnes.

According to specialists, the large-scale modernization and stabilization measures carried out as part of the reconstruction of the complex’s main production capacities continue to yield results. Timely implementation of these measures has ensured improved product quality and increased output volumes.

At the plan’s copper-molybdenum concentrate separation and drying shop, 9 aspiration systems, 25 cooling units, and 48 deflectors were installed. As a result, the show now saves an average of 75 kW of electricity per hour, amounting to annual savings of 650-660 million UZS.

In addition, digitalization efforts are being rapidly implemented, enabling real-time visual monitoring of production processes from the dispatch control room.

For reference, molybdenum is a rare element used for coating metals, ceramics, and graphite. Industrially, it is extracted from molybdenum ores. It serves as an alloying additive in steel production and is used in aviation, rocketry, and nuclear engineering to create heat-resistant and corrosion-resistant alloys.

Currently, the average global market price of molybdenum is around $54 per kilogram.
