- These days, our country is widely celebrating the 690th anniversary of the birth of Sohibqiron Amir Temur at the initiative of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. Thus, in the first years of independence, in 1993, despite economic difficulties, a monument to Amir Temur was erected in the capital as a symbol of independence. He put an end to more than two centuries of rule by the Mongol Empire and achieved independence. It is also important that the Museum of the History of the Temurids in Tashkent, which had not been reconstructed for a long time, has been recently renovated at the initiative of the head of state and acquired a modern look. This is a place that awakens a sense of national pride. History shapes the self-awareness of a people and strengthens its dignity. Today's conference also raises important issues aimed at solving existing problems in the study of the heritage of our great ancestor. It is necessary to objectively research and eliminate distorted information about Amir Temur together with experienced historians. Currently, large-scale work is being carried out to study his legacy, and feature films and animated films are being created, noted O. Khasanov.
During the scientific and practical conference, various aspects of the life and work of Sohibqiron Amir Temur were considered, including his role as a great statesman who created a powerful state, the development of science in Chach and Ilak, and the rise of mining and jewelry art during Temur’s era.
The participants were provided with interesting information about gold and silver coins minted by decree of Amir Temur, weapons, jewelry, as well as the high level of development of mining, copper smelting, blacksmithing and handicraft production during that period.
Timurid scholars also shared a number of noteworthy facts. In particular, during the era of Timur, the territories of Chach (Tashkent oasis) and Ilak (Akhangaran Valley) were not only strategically important military and political centers, but also a key raw material base for the empire. Sohibqiron effectively used the natural resources of these lands to strengthen state power and develop the military industry.
The Ilak Valley (modern-day Almalyk and Akhangaran districts) has been famous for its rich deposits since ancient times. During the Timur period, mining has reached a new level therein: gold and silver were mined, which served as the main raw materials for minting coins in Samarkand. Copper and lead mining volumes have increased. The remains of metallurgical furnaces in the Akhangaran Valley testify to the high level of development of metallurgy in that era.
Local copper mines provided raw materials for the production of famous products from the Timurid period, including large cauldrons and metal structures used in the construction of architectural monuments.
The conference also included proposals to disseminate information about Amir Temur in English, Russian, and other foreign languages via social media and Internet platforms, as well as to create more accessible and understandable national content for young people.
As part of the event, a song about Sohibqiron was performed by the singer of the Metallurg Hall of Culture, Uygun Tavboev, who was warmly received by the participants of the event. The performances of the People’s Artist of Uzbekistan Khairulla Lutfullayev and the singers of the State Institute of Arts and Culture of Uzbekistan were also greeted with round of applause.
At the end of the event, participants were introduced to the production process at Copper Concentration Plant-2, launched by the head of state in March of this year.
