Health and safety are the Complex top priorities

10 February 2026, 13:58 171

On 6 February this year, the final meeting on occupational health and safety at Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex for 2025 was held at the “Metallurg” Palace of Culture.

The event was attended by the heads of departments, relevant specialists, and trade union representatives.

Shukhrat Jurayev, the Head of Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex's Occupational Safety Department, delivered the report titled "On the Results of Health and Safety at AMMC in 2025 and Objectives for 2026." He reported that nearly 200 billion UZS were allocated for the implementation of comprehensive occupational health and safety measures in 2025. Significant funds were allocated to improve working conditions, enhance safety, and train personnel.

Particular attention was paid to personnel training. Over the course of the year, more than 10,000 employees and engineering and technical specialists underwent training, advanced training, and retraining. Since mid-year, the plant has been systematically developing professional competencies in occupational health and safety.

During the reporting period, dozens of audits and inspections were conducted, revealing organizational and technical violations. Based on these inspections, orders were issued, and disciplinary action was taken against managers and specialists.

It was noted that in 2025, accidents were recorded at the Complex, a significant portion of which were related to non-compliance with occupational safety requirements, a perfunctory approach to training, and inadequate supervision in the workplace.

Measures implemented include the introduction of dust control methods for production processes, the development of the Complex health and safety policy for 2026-2028, training and preventive measures, and an audit of compliance with the international standard ISO 45001:2018.

Priority objectives for 2026 include reducing occupational injuries and occupational diseases, fully covering employees with mandatory medical examinations, and providing personnel with certified personal protective equipment.

During the meeting, the heads of relevant inspectorates and the medical service presented information on the status of industrial safety and disease prevention measures. Following the discussion, a number of pressing issues were included in the meeting minutes for further consideration.
