+998 71 619 23 33The Industrial Water Supply Department was established on April 1, 1955, by order of “Almalyk MMC” JSC, separating from the Electric Networks Department to become an independent workshop within the complex. It operates modern technological equipment, high-voltage electrical facilities, pumping stations, transmission units, technological and transport support departments, and auxiliary services.
This is a highly energy-intensive operation. In terms of electricity consumption, the workshop ranks fifth among the complex’s enterprises. The scale of operations is evidenced by the distance between the highest service points exceeding 50 km, with 40,000 kVA transformer substations, 2,500 kW electric motors, and extensive overhead and cable lines.
The Industrial Water Supply Department has a critical and responsible task: ensuring uninterrupted water delivery. Technological processes at the Copper Concentrator Plant (CCP) and the Copper Concentrator Plant-2 (CCP-2), Industrial Plant (IP), the Copper-Smelting Plant (CSP), the Thermal Power Plant (TPP), and the Central Repair and Mechanical Plant (CRMP) require large quantities of water. To meet these needs, nearly 200 wells have been built outside the city, equipped with pump units and electrical substations.
The Industrial Water Supply Department is divided into 7 sections, delivering 249 million cubic meters of water annually through pipelines 160 km long and 330–1200 mm in diameter.
1st Section – based in “Yordam” village.
This section mainly extracts clean technical water for the needs of the complex from the Korakhtay bank, Korakhtay, Tosh-Sartamgali, and Tosh underground water basins (first lift). In total, it operates 65 groundwater extraction wells.
The 1st section supplies water to the Thermal Power Plant (TPP) through 25 km of 1200 mm concrete pipelines (pressure 1.3–2.4 kg/cm²) and to the 2nd water-lifting station of the 3rd section through two 900 mm concrete pipelines over 23 km (pressure 0.3–1.4 kg/cm²).
2nd Section – based near Substation No. 26 (former CCP waste storage).
This section mainly extracts water filtered in CCP’s old waste storage and drainage water seeping from the storage facility. It operates 43 contour wells and 8 D 4000/95 pump units. Currently, one pump delivers 4,500–5,700 m³/h to CCP via a combination of pipes (1 × 1220 mm, 2 × 820 mm, total length 15 km, pressure 5.6–7.5 kg/cm²).
3rd Section – comprises 5 pumping stations.
4th Section – located near CCP and CCP-2 new tailings storage, includes the base of pumping stations No. 53 and 54, supplying circulation water. Operates 10 SN 3000/197 pumps; currently, 3 pumps deliver 10,500–10,700 m³/h to CCP (pipes: 2 × 1220 mm, 1 × 1020 mm, total length 52 km, pressure 12–14 kg/cm²).
5th Section – repairs and services technological equipment, including excavators, tractors, welding machines, compressors, and pumps.
6th Section – drills and cleans hydrogeological wells using UGB-10UK rigs. Currently, 61 piezometers at CCP waste storage contour are being drilled.
7th Section – operates around CCP-2 and CCP new tailings storage, preventing seepage of water into the environment and maintaining 103 well pumps (530 mm × 4 km).
