Design Works Department

The history of our plant is inextricably linked with the history of our country, the development of its heavy industry. And speaking of the scientific, creative potential of the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Combine, one cannot fail to mention the affairs and people of another of its divisions - the Design Works Department (DWD). Its original name was – the Design Department (DD). It was formed during the merger of copper-molybdenum and lead-zinc plants in 1958.

The first task of the PKO team in the last century was the development of a project for supplying the city with water and enrichment facilities. factory factories. It was solved by getting water from the Angren river basin without changing the channel. Water intakes and water pumping stations were built according to the projects carried out by the specialists of the department, which supplied Almalyk with good drinking water. Also, projects were implemented for a hydrometallurgical workshop, dore gold refining plant for a copper smelter, a dairy farm, a poultry house, a cowshed and a calf house for the Almalyk state farm, a school building for 270 students in the village of Terekli, the workshop for the production of reinforced polyethylene film, the hosiery production section.

A huge amount of work was carried out by the team for the design of social and cultural facilities: health camps for summer holidays for schoolchildren "Voskhod" and "Sinegorye", family recreation areas, sports facilities of the AMMC, a sanatorium-preventorium, a multi-storey hostel "Metallurg" - for 611 beds with a complex of household and cultural spaces.
