A practical seminar on this subject was held on June 24 current year at Copper Concentrator No. 3, arranged at the initiative of the Council of the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan for the Tashkent region and with the assistance of “Almalyk MMC” JSC.

The event was attended by S. Fayzieva, Chairperson of the Council of the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan for Tashkent region; N. Normirzaeva, Deputy Khokim of Tashkent region and Head of the Department for Family and Women’s Affairs; Kh. Saidivalieva, Senior Researcher at the Family and Gender Research Institute; M. Muyitdinova, Occupational Safety Inspector at the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan; and members of the Women’s Leaders Club, chairpersons of the women’s and gender equality advisory councils at the Complex structural divisions.

Speaking at the seminar, S. Fayzieva referred in detail the essence of the concept of “gender equality” and its significance in the social and political life of the country. Particular attention was paid to the analysis of systemic reforms implemented in Uzbekistan to protect the rights and interests of women, as well as to expand their participation in public administration. She also detailed the role of trade unions in ensuring workers’ labor rights and creating equal opportunities for women, and spoke about the practical measures being implemented in this area.

Seminar participants presented detailed information on national legislation and international standards governing equality between women and men, the creation of equal opportunities in education, labor, entrepreneurship, and management, increasing women’s social and political activity, and the negative consequences of gender-based discrimination and violence.

During the event, it was also noted that our country’s achievements in the area of gender equality are highly praised at the international level.

The seminar was held in the format of an open and active dialogue. Participants received answers to their questions and made suggestions for further improvement of work in the area of gender equality. Such events promote the principles of equality in society, prevent discrimination and violence in the workplace, and increase women’s social and political activity.

The seminar was organized in pursuance of the objectives set out in the Comprehensive Program of Measures for the Implementation in 2026 of the Strategy for Achieving Gender Equality in the Republic of Uzbekistan until 2030, approved by Resolution No. PS-245-V of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated February 6, 2026.
