Today, copper is no longer just a non-ferrous metal. It is becoming a strategic resource that largely determines the future of global energy, high technology, and even geopolitics.

This opens up vast economic opportunities for copper-producing countries, including Uzbekistan. Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex is implementing a number of projects aimed at increasing production capacity, which will significantly boost copper output.

One such project is the construction of a new enrichment complex at Copper concentrator Plant 2. Its commissioning will increase ore processing capacity by 5 million tons per year and will be an important step towards further growth in copper production.

The complex is being constructed on a 3.1-hectare site by the Olmaliqmetallurgqurilish Trust. The design documentation was developed by the Design Department, and the installation and assembly of the process equipment will be carried out by the Specialized Repair Department.

According to Sardor Khasanov, Leading Process Engineer of the Production and Technical Department of CCP-2, 29,700 cubic meters of drilling and blasting operations have already been completed during the site preparation phase, along with the transportation of nearly 80,000 cubic meters of soil.

Construction and installation works are currently actively performed at the site. Reinforced concrete columns and foundations are being erected for the fine crushing facility. Concurrently, foundations for four fine crushers are being built. Seven of the nine retaining walls, totaling 231 meters, have already been completed.

Concurrently, preparation of sites for the grinding and flotation departments, as well as auxiliary production buildings, continues. This will ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the entire process chain.

The new complex has a design capacity of up to 5 million tons of ore processed annually. This is expected to yield 74,200 tons of concentrate, which will increase the production of cathode copper, gold, silver, and other precious metals.

The project involves processing ores from the “Yoshlik I” deposit, efficiently extracting their valuable components. Completion of the first phase of construction is scheduled for late 2026 or early 2027. Once fully operational, the complex will create an additional 600 new jobs.

It is particularly noteworthy that the equipment for the new complex is being manufactured at the plant's central repair and mechanical plant. The modern production facility will include crushing, grinding, flotation, filtration, and thickening sections, as well as compressor stations.

After commissioning, the total ore processing capacity at CCP-2 will reach nearly 10 million tons per year.

It's important to note that this large-scale project is being implemented primarily using the plant's internal resources, production potential, and engineering expertise. This once again confirms the company's ability to successfully implement large industrial projects using its own resources.

Overall, the favorable global copper market situation and the launch of new production capacity create a solid foundation for further industrial development, increased export potential, and stronger economic resilience.
