MOF-3: Synergy of Technology and Performance

Today, one of the largest investment projects being implemented by JSC “Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex” is the copper processing plant which is taking the country's mining and metallurgical industry to a qualitatively new level. Equipped with modern equipment, digital control systems, and high-performance process systems, the plant is already rightfully considered one of the largest beneficiation plants not only in Uzbekistan but throughout Central Asia.

The plant's design capacity is 60 million tons of ore per year. This significantly increases production volumes, strengthens export potential, and creates additional added value for the national economy. Production processes are organized using energy-efficient technologies, digital monitoring, and automated control systems. Particular attention is paid to environmental protection and sustainable development principles.

The processing begins in the ore preparation building. Here, the material is classified using wet screening technology, after which fractions smaller than 6 millimeters are sent to the grinding stage. This approach improves process efficiency, reduces energy costs, and increases the productivity of key equipment.

The key component of the grinding stage is the MShTs 7.3×13.0 ball mills manufactured by Uralmashzavod. Twelve mills of this type were installed as part of the project. They ensure grinding of over 80% of the ore material to the particle size of 74 microns or less. This is crucial for the efficient extraction of copper minerals during flotation and the production of high-quality copper concentrate.

Currently, seven ball mills have been successfully commissioned at the plant, each capable of processing average of 730 tons of ore per hour. Simultaneously, the works are underway to commission the eighth mill. The phased commissioning of the remaining process equipment is carried out through the joint efforts of specialists from the international companies and the Complex engineers. Upon completion of all the commissioning work, the plant will reach its full design capacity.

One of the main advantages of the copper processing plant is the high level of automation of its production processes. Ball mills and other process equipment are operated using modern sensors, intelligent control cabinets, and a centralized control system. Key indicators such as pulp density, flow rate, mill loading, and energy and water consumption are monitored and analyzed in real time. This ensures process stability, high product quality, and maximum production efficiency.

In addition, the enterprise has implemented digital solutions that include automatic grinding media loading, intelligent water flow management, automatic ore load regulation, and online optimization of process parameters. These innovations minimize human error, efficiently utilize resources, and improve energy efficiency and equipment reliability.

Today, the plant is not just a modern industrial facility, but a high-tech production facility that seamlessly combines innovation, digitalization, and advanced engineering solutions. The technologies implemented here make a significant contribution to enhancing the competitiveness of Uzbekistan's mining and metallurgy sector, sustainable development of the national economy, and strengthening the country's position in the international industrial arena.
