In recent years, Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex, which has become one of the flagships of construction and industrial transformations in the country, continues to strengthen its position as a driver of the national economy.

The constantly growing production capacities of the enterprise require a comprehensive approach to the modernization and reconstruction of the related infrastructure. In particular, the design work Administration is completing the implementation of the project for the construction of the IV main water pipeline, which runs from the combined tailings dump No. 2 to the Copper Concentrator plant.

The need to implement this project is due to the depletion of the operational life of water conduits No. 1 and No. 2, which were put into operation in 1982, as well as the decommissioning of the old tailings dump. In connection with this, in 2023, a third water supply line was put into operation. Currently, installation operations are underway to lay the fourth water main based on increase in the volume of settled water in the new tailings dump.

As reported by Khurshid Davronov, Head of the Production and Technical Section of the Capital Construction Administration, the installation of steel pipes with a diameter of 1,220 mm and a total length of 18,200 linear meters is being carried out by the “Olmaliqmetallurgqurilish” group of entities. The work is being carried out in stages with hydraulic pressure tests up to chamber 4a. The supply of settled water from the tailings dump to the Copper Concentrator Plant is provided through pumping station No. 54. Delivery capacity of the system will be 14,000-15,000 cubic meters of water per hour.

The cost of the project is 132 billion UZS. It is of strategic importance, as it solves one of the key tasks of today - ensuring rational and efficient water use, which, in turn, contributes to increasing overall production and environmental efficiency.
