Health is a priority: an HIV prevention event was held at AMMC

23 April 2026, 15:38 391

The fight against HIV infection and AIDS remains one of the urgent tasks of modern healthcare. According to experts, new cases of infection with this disease are being recorded. In these conditions, it is especially important to carry out preventive work among the population in a timely and systematic manner. It was in this spirit that an educational event, organized as part of a joint plan with the Tashkent Regional Khokimiyat, took place today, on April 23, at the Metallurg Hall of Culture.

The event was aimed at preventing HIV and AIDS among the plant’s employees belonging to the designated group (persons whose professional activities are related to the production, storage, transportation and sale of food and drinking water, upbringing and education of children). The audience was addressed by leading specialists of the AIDS Control Center of the Tashkent region. Doctor Ayitbaev Akhmadzhon spoke in detail about precautionary measures, sources and routes of transmission of the virus, and also drew particular attention to the alarming trend of a steady increase in the number of detected cases of infection worldwide. His fellow doctors, Begzod Adilov and Abror Zhuraev, complemented the presentation by highlighting various aspects of the problem and emphasizing that this disease can only be defeated together by combining the efforts of the medical community, government agencies and each individual. Abdujabbor Tukhtabayev, Chief physician of the Medical and Sanitary Unit of the Trade Union Council of the Almalyk MMC JSC, also addressed the audience.

Preventive work was not limited to the Hall of Culture. On the same day, similar events were held in the department for the production of consumer goods, preschool educational organizations of the Department of social facilities and in the medical and sanitary unit of the plant, which made it possible to reach the widest possible audience and convey important information to various categories of employees.

At the end of the meeting, the experts answered the questions of those present, and each participant received an information booklet with practical recommendations. The finale of the event was rapid testing: employees of the plant left a sample of saliva swab for testing – a quick and painless procedure that allows for early detection of the disease.

Such events are clear evidence that AMMC, in collaboration with specialized medical structures and regional authorities, is consistently building a culture of responsible health care. After all, prevention is not a one-time action, but a continuous process in which everyone’s contribution is important.
