On August 22 of this year, a delegation led by the British Parliamentary Under Secretary of State, Minister of Export Malcolm Offord arrived at the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex.
The delegation also included Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Great Britain to Uzbekistan Timothy Smart, senior officials in the field of trade and investment, as well as representatives of a number of leading companies.
First, the guests got acquainted with the AMMC museum. Next, they visited the observation decks of the Kalmakyr mine and the Yoshlik I deposit, and the directorate of the copper processing plant-3 under construction.
During a meeting with management, held in the executive office, the parties discussed the issue of establishing cooperation.
Also during the event, representatives of such companies as Weir Minerals and United Concrete Canvas made a presentation about the activities of their enterprises.
For reference: today in Uzbekistan, with the participation of British capital, there are 338 enterprises in the field of agriculture, food, mining, pharmaceuticals, light industry, trade, etc. Of these, 215 are joint ventures and 123 are 100% UK-owned companies.
As of January-June of this year, trade turnover between the two countries amounted to 143.7 million US dollars.
It is also worth noting that in order to implement the investment project “Development of the Yoshlik I field”, together with the British international company SRK Consulting, geological exploration work was carried out at the AMMC fields in accordance with the standards of the JORC code, and extremely accurate reports were provided on their stocks.
In collaboration with SRK Consulting, a total of 2,478 geological documents prepared between 1930 and 2021, as well as data on drilled wells (874 thousand linear meters), have been digitized. Their unified electronic database was created using the software “Datashed” and “Logchief” (Australia). As a result, work with geological materials was accelerated several dozen times and reporting on mineral resources was established based on the JORC code, which meets international standards and is in demand by investors.
