AMMC achieves cadmium and zinc sulfate production targets ahead of schedule

25 November 2025, 14:12 761

The workforce of the Zinc Plant at the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex has successfully fulfilled its annual production forecasts for cadmium metal and zinc sulfate ahead of schedule.

Notably, cadmium metal output reached 157.2% of the annual forecast, while zinc sulfate production was completed at 182% of the planned volume.

The Zinc Plant’s products are exported to countries such as India and Tajikistan. In addition, zinc sulfate is used as a reagent at the Khondiza Mining Administration.

Cadmium is known to be a relatively rare element in nature, occurring mainly as an associated component in zinc ores (such as sphalerite). Industrially, cadmium is obtained as a by-product of zinc production. It is used in electrotechnical applications, in alloys for machine building, for anticorrosion coatings, in the nuclear industry, and in the production of inorganic pigments.

Zinc sulfate, on the other hand, is used in the production of viscose fibers, mineral paints, glazes, in metallurgy (as a flotation reagent), as well as in medicine, agriculture, and chemical power sources such as batteries.
