+998 71 619 23 33From 30 March to 5 April of this year, the Open Central Asian Handball Championship for men's and women's teams was held in Tashkent at the Olympic Village.
The teams from Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex also participated in this prestigious tournament: the men's team coached by Hasan Kayumov, and the women's team led by Vladimir Muminov.
The men's competition was held in two groups. The Group A included the teams from AMMC, Navoi Region, the clubs from Kazakhstan (Shymkent and Astana), and Team India-2. Teams “Ma’mun” (Khorezm), TerDU (Surkhandarya), the U-18 team, Team India-1, and “Team Turan” from Kazakhstan competed for the playoff in the Group B.
The women's competition also consisted of two groups. The Group A featured the Uzbekistan national team, Astana, Shymkent (Kazakhstan), and Navoi Region. The Group B featured the U-18 teams of Uzbekistan, AMMC, and Kazakhstan's “Turan-Turkestan” and “Astana-Yoshlar”.
The AMMC men's team, having performed confidently throughout the tournament, defeated “Ma’mun” with the score 29-28 in a tense final to claim the championship title. The AMMC women's team struggled a bit: in the third-place match, they lost to Turan-Turkestan with the score 22-29, falling just short of the winner's stand.
Thus, the AMMC men's handball team became the Central Asian champions, demonstrating their high level of preparation and fighting spirit.
