Women in science: towards a sustainable society

In accordance with the UN General Assembly resolution dated 22 December 2015, the International Day of Women and Girls in Science is celebrated annually on 11 February worldwide.

The goal of the holiday is to ensure equal opportunities for women in science and innovation, expand their participation in scientific activity and highlight the important role of women in achieving sustainable development.

This day is also widely celebrated annually in our country. This year, in accordance with the relevant Cabinet of Ministers decree, a dedicated week is planned.

On 10 February 2026, the seminar on "Women in Science: Toward a Sustainable Society" was held at the “Metallurg” Palace of Culture.

The event was attended by the representatives of the Department of Science and Innovation, heads of the advisory councils on women and gender equality issues of structural divisions, female scientists, and women workers with innovative ideas.

Opening the seminar, Kamola Umaralieva, Advisor to the Chairman of the Board of Directors of JSC “Almalyk MMC” on Spirituality and the State Language, emphasized that today, our country is creating all the conditions for women's education and the development of their potential, and the plant is implementing effective initiatives in this direction.

During the seminar, Nargiza Bekbutaeva, Lead Engineer for Invention and Rationalization Activities in the Department of Science and Innovation, delivered the presentation on the topic "Unite for Science!"

Shakhnoza Abdullaeva, Lead Engineer in the Department of Investments and Capital Construction, also made a strong impression: she shared her personal experience of independent research during her postgraduate studies and dissertation defense, as well as her research project "Improving Investment Project Management Using Digitalization in Joint-Stock Companies (using the AMMC as an Example)."

Particularly noteworthy was the speech by Zukhra Urolova, a specialist in the Specialized Repairs Department and an innovator, who shared her experience in innovation and technical creativity. Her example demonstrated that despite life's challenges, it is possible to achieve goals, which served as a true motivation for the seminar participants.

Furthermore, the seminar discussed the role of women in ensuring family well-being and community development.

Similar seminars and meetings will continue in other structural divisions of the plant.

For reference: as of 2025, more than 7,600 women work at AMMC in various fields. 1,070 women hold positions of responsibility at the Complex enterprises, and 309 work in management. 1,281 women have higher education, including three women scientists.
