Everyone must fight against corruption together

As part of the anti-corruption month at Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex, roundtable discussions are being held across the complex under the slogan “Fighting corruption is a national duty and the conscience of every patriot.”
Following the approved schedule, the latest events were organized for staff of the Training Center, the Social Facilities Department and the Civil Protection Unit.
Speakers at the session included Murtozakhon Abdullakhonov, deputy imam of the Hilal Friday Mosque; Gulnoza Sabriyeva, senior specialist of AMMC’s Compliance Service; and lead specialist Shuhrat Kholkhujayev.
Participants were briefed in detail on the dangers that corruption poses to society and the measures being taken to counter it.
- Article 3 of the Republic of Uzbekistan’s Law “On combating corruption” defines corruption as the unlawful use of one’s official position for material or non-material gain for oneself or others, as well as the unlawful provision of such gain.
- Effective anti-corruption measures have been implemented at AMMC. In particular, in May 2021 the AMMC Anti-corruption compliance service was established.
- According to Gulnoza Sabriyeva, the main objectives of AMMC’s anti-corruption policy include: Eradicating corruption in the central office and subsidiary enterprises. Raising employees’ legal awareness and culture. Adopting a zero tolerance approach to all forms of corruption. Consistently implementing preventive measures across the complex. Timely detection and elimination of corrupt practices and removing the conditions and causes that enable corruption. She emphasized that holding wrongdoers accountable without exceptions is a core principle.
