The Extraction 2025 conference was held on 16-20 November 2025 in Phoenix, Arizona, USA. For 30 years now, this event has become one of the world’s largest and most prestigious scientific and technical gatherings in the copper industry.

Bringing together the international metallurgy and mining community, Extraction 2025 hosted industry practitioners, researchers, and academics.

The conference covered a wide range of topics, including mining, mineral processing, pyrometallurgy, and other related fields.

For the first time, the event was organized in a multi-metal dialogue format, covering not only copper but also nickel, cobalt, and other critical metals. Participants discussed technological innovations, real-world case studies, processing techniques, environmental and economic factors, market trends, and sustainability issues.

It is especially gratifying that two young scholars from Uzbekistan – brothers Bobur and Behzod Gayratov, who previously worked at the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex and are now pursuing doctoral research at Akita University in Japan – took part in this prestigious global conference. They delivered presentations on environmentally friendly and efficient processing methods for ores from AMMC’s mines. Their research left a positive impression on conference participants.

The proceeding of Extraction 2025, containing scientific articles and technical presentations, have been published by Springer as a book. The volume includes, comprehensive papers on electrolysis processes, recycling, industrial chemistry implications, recovery and waste management, as well as market and economic analyses.

Proudly, the publication also features articles by Uzbekistan’s young scientists – Bobur and Behzod Gayratov.
