CCP-3: digitalization continues

07 October 2024, 13:10 739

All technological processes of copper concentrator plant No. 3 will be fully automated using modern equipment. This will reduce the impact of the human factor on technological processes, reduce the risks of accidents and downtime, and improve product quality.

Automation of the technological process will be built on a modern software and hardware base used in the practice of global manufacturers. The technological process at CCP-3 will be controlled from a centralized control room.

Currently, the Siemens Process Control System 7 (PCS 7) is being implemented here. This is a powerful process control system for large-scale facilities. It operates automatically based on the data received from the instrumentation and automation devices, of which there are more than 16,000 at the factory! The system also has uninterruptible archive servers that allow recording each parameter of the technological process. Therefore, at any time, quickly and without the use of paper documents, you can analyze and evaluate the process, generate an electronic report for a specified period of time, etc. A system of this scale, which includes systems for cyclic-flow transportation of ore, crushing and enrichment, water supply and tailings storage, is the only one in the Central Asian region at the moment.

A system for unified monitoring and analytics of both the entire plant as a whole and individual process equipment is also being implemented. The “PI vision” system, used by the largest enterprises in the world, is a solution from “AVEVA”. It allows you to assemble energy metering systems, ore consumption, water supply, auxiliary systems of business areas and other production management systems into a single screen. Based on the comparison data, analytics at any point in the operation of the equipment can make a data forecast in advance with great accuracy. For example, the consumption of ore, energy, water, oil required for the operation of equipment with high efficiency, or other indicators: how many degrees the temperature of the engine bearing rises if it operates for the specified time.

As a result, it is expected to minimize the number of downtimes and equipment breakdowns, which will increase the production indicators of the factory as a whole.
