The “First Bell” ceremony, marking the beginning of the academic year, was attended by officials from the regional department of the National Agency for Social Protection, the school’s teaching staff, students, and their parents.
During the event, participants were informed about the new facilities created for the children, the modern teaching methods to be used in the educational and training process, and the broad opportunities available to help the students adapt to social life.
For reference, this school for children with physical and intellectual developmental delays was originally built in 1965. As a result of the reconstruction, it has been completely modernized. The building’s specialized classrooms, assembly hall, gym, cafeteria, library, and restrooms were renovated. Windows, frames, hot and cold-water pipes, and lighting systems were replaced. The roof was partially renewed, and the façade was given a modern appearance. In addition, lighting systems, power supply, video surveillance, and fire safety systems were installed on the premises.
The boarding school is also equipped with dormitories, classrooms, technology rooms, a cafeteria, and a gym. Moreover, additional facilities such as a waiting room, laundry, storage, security checkpoint, boiler room, summer kitchen, outdoor restroom, and greenhouse have been built. For students’ comfort, mini-football, volleyball, and children’s playgrounds, as well as two pavilions, were constructed in the courtyard. The paths were fully asphalted, landscaped, and greened.
A “Care” group has been established at the school to provide not only supervision but also psychological support, rehabilitation, social adaptation, and vocational training through special programs. The 13 technology classrooms introduced at the boarding school help boys and girls prepare for life by developing practical skills. Along with general education, students learn trades such as carpentry, metalworking, hairdressing, crafts, landscaping, and sewing — all of which help them find their place in society in the future.
In the near future, it is planned to establish a small production workshop and a mini-farming enterprise on the school premises.
