In our country, special attention is paid to the development of physical culture and mass sports. Sports events are regularly held at enterprises and organizations aimed at improvement of health of workers, increasing productivity, and providing meaningful organization of their leisure time.

This tradition is consistently maintained at the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex. Every year, an athletic contest is organized, in which teams from the structural divisions of the AMMC participate. The official start of the 2026 season was recently held at the Metallurg stadium.

The opening ceremony was attended by the chairmen of trade union committees, sports instructors, and the athletes themselves – employees of the plant. The speakers emphasized the importance of a healthy lifestyle and physical activity, noting their invaluable role in human life.

In addition, a formal awards ceremony for the winners of the Athletic Contest 2025 took place.

Results of 2025:

First group:

Third place – Central Repair and Mechanical Plant;

Second place – Industrial Rail Transport Department;

First place – Copper Smelter.

Second group:

Third place – Kauldy mine;

Second place – Lime Plant;

First place – Motor Transport Administration.

Third group (subdivisions, located in Angren town):

Third place – Angren Pipe Plant;

Second place – Mine Construction Department;

First place – Angren Mining Administration

The winners were awarded commemorative gifts from the Council of the AMMC Workers’ Trade Union.

Immediately after the awards ceremony, the first men’s volleyball match of the Athletic Contest 2026 took place. 29 teams took part in the competition, held according to the Olympic system.

It should be noted that the current Athletic Contest will include competitions in 13 sports: volleyball, streetball, the Alpomish and Barchinoy and 4x100 meter relays, badminton, arm wrestling, chess, darts, handball, basketball, table tennis, and checkers. The competitions shall last until November of this year.

Such competitions not only increase the interest of work teams in sports, but also contribute to the development of a healthy lifestyle, strengthening corporate spirit, and creating a positive work environment.
