+998 71 619 23 33Uzbekistan's rich mineral resource base, the country's mining and geological industries, and its significant investment potential consistently attract the attention of the leading scientific centers and international experts.
A striking example of this was the practical visit to Uzbekistan by the representatives of one of the world's most respected geological research centers, the CODES Center at the University of Tasmania (Australia). The visit of Dr. Z. Zivkovic and students from the CODES SEG department takes international cooperation in the geological field to a qualitatively new level.
The main goal of the international program organized with the support of the Ministry of Mining and Geology of the Republic of Uzbekistan is to expand cooperation between mining companies and geological departments of higher education institutions, as well as the practical implementation of joint research projects.
As part of the program, 24 young scientists and students from leading countries – Australia, Canada, China, France, Italy, Brazil and Kazakhstan – visited Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex on 22 June. The delegation also included Anna Fonseca, Vice President for Regional Affairs at SEG, who led the delegation.
The members of the foreign delegation were given a detailed tour of the Complex largest and modern production facilities. In particular, the guests visited the observation platforms of the “Qalmaqir” and “Yoshlik I” mines, where they learned about mineral extraction processes and geological exploration. The delegation then visited the “Metallurg” Palace of Culture, where they learned about the activities of artistic groups and museum exhibits.
The practical tour for the foreign geologists concluded with a visit to the facilities of the Angren Mine Administration.
Holding such international events promotes the potential of Uzbekistan's mining industry on the global stage and opens up new opportunities for implementing advanced global practices in the industry's development.
