To introduce international ESG standards and the practical application of sustainable development principles at state-owned enterprises in Uzbekistan, the “UzAssets” JSC, with the support of the Asian Development Bank and in collaboration with the Higher School of Business and Entrepreneurship under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, implemented a two-stage educational program, the ESG Center of Excellence, for specialists from the country’s largest state-owned companies.

On July 3, 2026, a diploma delivery ceremony was held for the first graduates of the program. On the same day, the launch of a new online course on ESG was announced, which will allow employees of all state-owned enterprises in Uzbekistan to undergo training in sustainable development.

During the event, it was noted that sustainable development is currently becoming one of the key factors in the competitiveness of state-owned companies. Adherence to ESG principles helps to attract capital, strengthen investor confidence, and improves companies’ readiness to enter international markets, conduct IPOs, and implement privatization programs.

It is especially gratifying to note that Rustam Akhmedov, Head of the Sustainable Development Department at “Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex” JSC, has participated in this prestigious program, having successfully completed the training and obtained an international certificate confirming his ESG qualifications.

The training program was aimed at development of actual competencies in corporate governance, environmental and social responsibility, sustainable development, and practical implementation of international ESG standards.

The participation of the AMMC representative in this program was another important step toward development of ESG principles at the enterprise and implementation of the best international practices in the Complex operations.
