The panel discussion was held at the Tashkent International Investment Forum, where one of the key topics was the integration of education and industry, specifically the implementation of dual training.

Doniyor Karimov, Head of the Training Center at Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex (AMMC), presented the results of a successful project implemented jointly with Germany.

The German Skills Experts Program (SEP) is currently actively operating at AMMC, providing a solid foundation for cooperation. The project's main goal is to train internationally recognized specialists in metalworking and provide graduates with AHK-DIHK certificates recognized in Germany.

Since January 2026, 30 talented young people have been studying under the program in the "Electric Gas Welder" and "Technician-Technologist" programs. The educational process is based on the German dual system: 30% theory and 70% practice. Moreover, practical training takes place not on mock-ups, but on real equipment at the Complex largest production sites – the Central Repair and Mechanical Plant and the Copper Processing Plant. The theoretical base is supplemented by training at the technical school.

To ensure high-quality training, mentors trained according to the AdA International standard are involved. Admission to unsupervised work is strictly phased: first, training on simulators, then work under the supervision of mentor, and only then they can independently work.

While qualified specialists had to be sourced previously from outside the plant, today, thanks to the dual system, AMMC trains personnel internally, for its own technologies and modern equipment, ensuring a high level of quality. This experience has become a shining example of effective cooperation between Uzbekistan and Germany in the field of vocational education.
