AMMC: Transition to a “Green Economy” is in full swing

03 December 2024, 9:34 961

In the context of continuous reduction of natural resources, aggravation of global environmental problems, experts note the need to implement the principles of "green development" in the global economy to resolve the situation.

This approach is also reflected in the UN sustainable development plans.

In our country, the "Strategy for the transition to a "green economy" was adopted in 2019. In the next decade, the country plans to sharply reduce carbon consumption, introduce environmentally friendly and resource-saving technologies in all sectors of the economy, and widely use renewable and efficient energy sources.

Significant work in this direction is also being carried out at the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Combine. In particular, to date, solar photovoltaic stations with a total capacity of 9,041 kW have been installed at 98 production and social facilities of the plant (85 facilities with a capacity of 8,649 kW, and 13 sponsored facilities with a capacity of 392 kW.

Every year, AMMC increases electricity generation due to solar photovoltaic stations. Thus, in 2023, these installations generated more than 638 thousand kW/h of electricity. Solar photovoltaic installations commissioned during 11 months of the current year generated more than 3 million kW of electricity. The generated electricity was used to meet the needs of production and social facilities.

It is also worth noting the hydroturbine generator with a capacity of 30 kW/h installed in the Tanachi-Buka channel, which passes through the territory of Railway Shop No. 3 of the Industrial Railway Transport Department. The electricity generated by this device covers 60% of the total electricity demand of the administrative and household building of Railway Shop No. 3. The advantage of this device is its environmental friendliness: hydro turbine generators do not produce harmful emissions into the atmosphere and do not use fossil fuels.

The works aimed at the transition to a "green economy" will continue next year – 2025.
