"Fire Safety Month" is being actively conducted at the AMMC

11 December 2025, 9:31 1045

As is known, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Uzbekistan has designated a "Fire Safety Month" in our country from December 1 to December 30 of this year, during which preventive measures, training sessions, and public awareness campaigns are being carried out on a large scale. Particular attention is being paid to ensuring fire safety at large industrial enterprises.

To this end, a seminar on "Prioritizing Fire Safety" was held yesterday at the Central Office of the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex.

The event was attended by employees from the Central Office departments, Social Facilities, Automobile Transport, Production Automation management, fire safety and civil defense groups, as well as other structural divisions.

The attendees were provided with detailed information on the statistics of natural disasters occurring in our country in recent years, the causes of fires in industrial processes, and measures to prevent them. The requirements for using electric heating devices and gas equipment, as well as the rules for storing and transporting flammable substances and materials, were once again emphasized. Practical instructions were given on how to act correctly in the event of a man-made disaster, evacuate citizens to a safe area, provide first aid, and use fire extinguishing equipment.

The importance of regularly implemented practical measures for the prompt elimination of emergencies and ensuring the safety of workers and employees is invaluable. For this reason, preventive work is consistently carried out in all structural divisions of the plant.

In particular, yesterday, a training and tactical exercise was held at the 2nd Copper Concentrator with the participation of civil defense personnel to address the consequences of an earthquake and organize emergency rescue operations.

According to the training scenario, a magnitude 5 earthquake occurred on the factory grounds, resulting in the collapse of building structures, which led to a short circuit in the power lines and a subsequent fire. The FM reconnaissance and rescue team promptly arrived at the scene and evacuated the workers trapped in the rubble to a safe area. The fire, caused by the natural disaster, was quickly extinguished by firefighters. The victims received first aid and were transported to a medical facility.

A similar tactical exercise was conducted at the Lime Plant of the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex. The Civil Defense Detachment and the enterprise's Civil Defense units participated in it.

According to the training scenario, at 9:00 a.m., an earthquake in the plant area caused a concrete fragment from the oil station's roof to fall and trap a worker. Due to a short circuit in the electrical wires, a fire broke out in the building's technological equipment.

Rescuers evacuated the injured mechanic to a safe area, and representatives of the Civil Defense unit extinguished the fire.

At the conclusion of the event, the identified shortcomings were discussed, and specialists provided appropriate recommendations to prevent such errors from recurring in the future. The tactical training exercise was assessed as satisfactory.
