Commemorative Badges “120 Years of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan” Presented

According to the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On Designating the Day of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan” adopted on November 20, 2020, November 11 has been officially recognized as Trade Unions Day of Uzbekistan. Moreover, this year marks the 120th anniversary of the establishment of the trade union movement in Uzbekistan. In connection with these celebrations, activists and veterans of trade unions across the country are being honored.

One such event was held on November 5, organized by the Tashkent Regional Council of the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan. The ceremony was attended by S. Fayziyeva, Chairperson of the Tashkent Regional Council of the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan; N. Normirzayeva, Deputy governor of Tashkent Region and Head of the Family and Women’s Affairs Department; A. Khaydarov, Chairperson of the Trade Union Committee of Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex JSC (AMMC); A. Nosirov, Head of the Tashkent Regional Branch of the “Nuroniy” Foundation; R. Sheraliyev, Head of the Tashkent Regional Branch of the Creative Union of Journalists of Uzbekistan; as well as trade union officials and activists.

The event was opened by S. Fayziyeva, who congratulated the participants on the upcoming Trade Unions Day and the 120th anniversary of the trade union movement. She also highlighted the initiatives put forward by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev during his meeting with trade union activists and veterans on October 17, emphasizing the importance of the principle: “Strong Trade Unions – the Foundation of a Strong Society.”

Speakers at the event acknowledged the significant role of trade unions in public life and their dedication in protecting the labor rights and interests of workers.

During the ceremony, 73 representatives of regional, district, and city trade union organizations—including chairs and activists of primary trade union committees from enterprises, organizations, and institutions—were presented with the commemorative badge “120 Years of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan.”

Among them, 32 representatives from the structural units of the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex JSC also received the commemorative badge in recognition of their active contribution to the trade union movement.
