+998 71 619 23 33At the initiative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the first Advanced Engineering School "GeoMetTech" in the country was organized in Almalyk, created in partnership between the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex and the University of Science and Technology "MISiS".
On April 28, 2025, within the framework of the V International Industrial Exhibition "INNOPROM. Central Asia", the Agreement on the establishment of the school was signed. The document was signed by the Rector of the University of Science and Technology "MISiS" Alevtina Chernikova and the Chairman of the Board of JSC "Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex " Abdulla Khursanov.
The main goal of creating the "GeoMetTech" school is to provide the industrial complex of the Republic of Uzbekistan, including the AMMC, with highly qualified engineering personnel capable of solving strategic problems of the long-term development of industries using new knowledge and competencies. The Advanced Engineering School "GeoMetTech" will train specialists capable of innovative thinking, development and implementation of new technologies, and solution of complex technical problems.
Main areas of training:
Mining and enrichment;
Metallurgy of noble, rare, rare earth and heavy metals;
Digital materials science and new technologies;
Digital transformation of technological processes.
Training will begin on September 1, 2025, under the educational program "Metallurgy". In the 2025/2026 academic year, master's students will have two profiles to choose from: "Mineral Enrichment" and "Digital Control of Technological Processes". In the future, the list of programs will be expanded.
A special feature of the Advanced Engineering School is its practical focus: students from the first year of the master's program will begin to study the production tasks of real enterprises, with subsequent practical implementation of the results based on the AMMC. For the effective training of specialists, it is planned to create an Educational Factory, including four scientific and educational spaces (SES):
Virtual testing laboratory equipped with powerful computing resources and modern software for design and calculation tasks;
Laboratory of new materials and technologies, designed to develop and optimize technologies, research in the field of metallurgy, functional coatings, additive manufacturing and atomization of materials;
Laboratory of automation and repair of mining equipment, equipped with modern stands for practicing production and repair processes;
Design bureau (DB), provided with the necessary programs and workstations for design and development of design documentation.
Rector of the University of Science and Technology "MISiS" Alevtina Chernikova noted that in 2022 the university became the winner of the federal competition for the development of a network of Advanced Engineering Schools in partnership with leading high-tech companies in Russia. In our specialized school "Materials Science, Additive and Continuous Technologies", we develop educational programs and set the agenda together with industrial partners. The best educational and research practices of our university are successfully applied in the implementation of international projects. In May 2024, the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev supported the initiative to open an Advanced Engineering School based on the Almalyk branch of the university, and we began to implement it. On behalf of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, a plan (roadmap) was developed to create the Advanced Engineering School "GeoMetTech" together with the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex . The new engineering school will train highly qualified personnel for the economy of the republic.
One of the important features of the school's educational model is the additional development of working professions by students. This will allow them to better understand the processes taking place at manufacturing enterprises, as well as effectively solve scientific, technological and design problems of Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex and the industry as a whole.
In addition, with the start of training, students will be given the opportunity to find employment at the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex .
— "Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex is entering a qualitatively new stage of its development. We are introducing the latest technologies for processing minerals and manufacturing finished products, expanding the range of deep processing products. At the initiative of the President of the country, a large investment project is currently being implemented aimed at integrated extraction, processing and manufacturing of finished products. The new production facilities are equipped with modern equipment, are fully automated and comply with international environmental standards. We are confident that the new model of personnel training at the Advanced Engineering School, which involves the introduction of modern higher and additional professional education programs, will significantly improve the qualifications of employees. Today, we need specialists with up-to-date knowledge in the field of digital technologies, capable of solving the most complex engineering problems, thinking innovatively and developing new technological solutions. We are convinced that the Advanced Engineering School will train exactly such highly qualified specialists," emphasized Abdulla Khursanov, Chairman of the Board of JSC “Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex ”.
