+998 71 619 23 33The large-scale reforms implemented in our country in the recent years, particularly modernization in the non-ferrous metallurgy sector, have become a significant factor in strengthening export potential. The introduction of new investment projects, modern technology, and digital management systems is taking the industry to a qualitatively new level.
Against the backdrop of these transformations, the Kalmakyr Mine Administration of Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex has now become one of the leading enterprises in the country's mining industry, not only in terms of production volume but also in terms of its technological potential.
In the early years of independence, working conditions at the Mine Administration were far from their current level and technical equipment. The shortage of equipment, worn-out machinery, and limited production capacity placed a significant burden on the miners. The work required enormous physical efforts. But even under these conditions, the enterprise employees, thanks to their dedication and resilience, ensured uninterrupted production.
Mamasodik Karimov, the Head of the Balikty quarry at the Yoshlik I mine, recalls:
- I began my work in September 1980 at the Kalmakyr mine as assistant excavator operator. Then, the excavators with 8-cubic-meter buckets were primarily used. Later, when machines with 10-cubic-meter buckets arrived, they seemed truly gigantic to us. Over the years, the AMMC material-technical base was completely modernized, and the mine began to receive cutting-edge technology and powerful, next-generation excavators. Unlike older equipment, modern machines offer everything necessary for operators and their assistants, from comfortable cabins to automated control systems. For example, lubrication systems are fully automated, reducing human error and increasing productivity. Compared to the past and present, employees, especially young professionals, now have truly great opportunities. The Complex places special emphasis on employee initiatives and innovation suggestions. If an idea has technical and economic justification, it is quickly implemented into production. Successful project authors receive adequate financial and moral rewards. My advice to young people is to make the most of the modern conditions and opportunities created at the Complex, work diligently, constantly improve themselves, and gain experience," noted M.Karimov.
In the recent years, the Kalmakyr Mine Administration key production indicators have demonstrated steady growth. While 32.2 million tons of ore were mined in 2017, this figure reached 34.3 million tons in 2021. In 2025, production volumes reached 37.4 million tons. Stripping operations volume also increased significantly: from 9.4 million cubic meters in 2017 to 18.4 million cubic meters in 2025. The total volume of rock mass also grew steadily, from 22.1 million cubic meters to 32.8 million cubic meters.
According to Abdulaziz Shodiev, the mine's Chief Mechanic, the increased production indicators are directly related to the large-scale modernization of its fleet and mining equipment. Just ten years ago, the mine operated 42 excavators and 22 drilling rigs. At that time, the mine's equipment consisted primarily of relatively low-power EKG-5, EKG-8, and EKG-10 excavators, while only one high-performance EKG-20 was available.
To accelerate ore extraction, the mine has recently received three additional EKG-15 and two EKG-10 excavators, increasing the total number of machinery units to 47. Three more drilling rigs have also been commissioned.
Significant work has also been carried out to implement digital control systems. The mine now operates modern control systems for its mining and transport equipment: dump trucks, excavators, drilling rigs, and auxiliary equipment are equipped with tablets, GPS/GLONASS trackers, and modern sensors. This allows for real-time monitoring of all production processes, rapid data analysis, and improved management efficiency.
The transformations currently underway at the Kalmakyr Mine Administration are more than just modernization; they represent a long-term strategic effort aimed at improving production efficiency. The introduction of new-generation excavators, modern drilling rigs, and advanced technologies ensures not only stable operations today but also confident growth in the future. All of this plays a significant role in enhancing the competitiveness of the country's mining industry and makes a significant contribution to Uzbekistan's economic development.
