Digital Future: Uzbekistan’s Experience Presented at an International Forum

The 26th meeting of the Youth Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS Member States recently opened in St. Petersburg. Young deputies, representatives of public organizations and trade unions from the Commonwealth countries are participating in the forum.

Participants in the prestigious international event included representatives of the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan, the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and Feruza Bazarova, Economic Advisor to the Chairman of the Trade Union Council of the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex.

One of the key topics of the current meeting was the impact of artificial intelligence technologies on the lives of young people and the prospects for their application in state youth policy. Participants also discuss digital security, modern education, youth employment, and the introduction of innovation into economic processes, as well as exchange practical experiences.

Bekhzod Tukhtamurodov, a member of the Committee for Innovative Development and Information Technology of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, delivered a report at the forum. In his speech, he detailed the national strategies and legislative framework adopted in Uzbekistan in the field of digitalization. Particular attention was paid to government support for the development of artificial intelligence technologies, improvement of legal regulation of the industry, and training of young specialists.

Representatives of our country speaking at the event also emphasized the systematic work being carried out in Uzbekistan to protect the socio-economic interests of workers, particularly young professionals employed at large industrial enterprises. International experts expressed great interest in experience of the AMMC with trade union participation in economic processes, the creation of comfortable conditions for employees, and its existing incentive mechanisms.

It was separately noted that the international activity of the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan is acquiring a strategic nature and is becoming a true “school of public diplomacy” for young people. Experts from CIS countries also highly praised the participation of young Uzbek leaders in educational seminars on International Labor Organization conventions aimed at strengthening regional cooperation.

The meeting is expected to result in the adoption of a number of joint recommendations and initiatives aimed at further developing youth policy and strengthening the legal protection of workers in the CIS.
