In the recent years, the projects to protect the environment and introduce "green technologies" at industrial enterprises have been consistently implemented in our country. The state program for 2026 defines strengthening the ecological balance as one of the priority tasks, and large-scale efforts are being made to reduce waste emissions into the environment during production processes, limit the spread of harmful substances into the air, and implement modern purification systems.

In this direction, effective work is organized at the Zinc Plant of the AMMC. As part of the implementation of the President's Resolution No. 3454, since 2018, each workshop has been gradually modernized and production processes have been improved. In particular, the main unit that receives and processes zinc cakes and imported oxide industrial products – the Waelz shop – was not left out of the extensive reconstruction works. In February 2026, dismantling work began at this workshop, and instead of the current URFM type equipment that has been in use for more than 50 years and is obsolete, it is planned to install modern, fully automated filters that prevent the release of harmful substances into the atmosphere.

This large shop, which was put into operation in 1972 and occupies an area of ​​​​57,804 square meters, includes 4 sections: filtration-drying, cake storage and batch preparation, furnaces, oxide retention and incineration. The main equipment of the shop consists of drying drums, disc vacuum filters, Waelz kilns, bag filters, two rotary incinerators and other equipment.

As a result of modernization and technological upgrades, the installation of new filters in this shop will increase production efficiency, sharply reduce the release of harmful substances into the atmosphere in exhaust gases, and ensure the continuous and stable conduct of production processes. Also, manual labor will be reduced, creating more comfortable and safe working conditions for workers.

- Our main goal today is to increase production efficiency, while introducing modern zero-waste and low-emission technologies that fully comply with global environmental standards. In particular, the new generation of bag filters being installed at the Waelz shop of the Zink Plant are highly efficient, with dust and gas retention rate of 99.5 percent. This equipment not only dramatically reduces emissions into the atmosphere, but also allows valuable raw materials to be captured and returned to production.

Currently, “Olmaliqmetallurgqurilish” Trust is carrying out dismantling work at the shop. The installation and assembly of modern filters is being carried out by the Specialized Repair Works Department.

Today, one of the main tasks facing the Waelz shop team is to further increase production efficiency and reduce product costs. To this end, it is planned to further optimize technological processes at the enterprise, use energy-efficient equipment, and consistently continue modernization work.
