07 April 2026, 14:43 294

The nationwide "Yashil Makon" ("Green Land") project, initiated by the head of state, is currently playing a significant role in greening the country and preserving its natural resources. It aims to create a favorable environment and promote sustainable plant life.

From 2021 to the present, the large-scale project has been implemented across the country: 942 green zones and public parks have been created on the area over 2,000 hectares, and "Yangi Uzbekistan" gardens have been planted in 47 communities. Forests have been formed across 256,000 hectares in mountainous, desert, and adyr regions. Furthermore, the 60-kilometer "green belt" has been created in 33 districts to protect against wind and dust erosion.

One of the republic's largest industrial giants, Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex, is actively participating in this initiative. In particular, the “Kalmakir” Mine Administration team is contributing to the improvement of assigned territories and strengthening the ecological balance.

As Deputy Director of the Mine Administration, Bakhrom Nazarov, noted, over 125,000 poplars and other ornamental trees are already being grown on an area of 18 hectares. Additionally, poplar shoots have been planted on one hectare for autumn planting.

The division's employees pay special attention to selecting seedlings that are adapted to local climate conditions, fast-growing, and environmentally friendly. Poplar holds a special place in this regard: it is highly effective at purifying the air and simultaneously serves as a natural wind barrier. This is why poplar is particularly widely used in creating "green belts" around the Complex industrial zones.

In the framework of the "Yashil Makon" project to further expand the scale of greening, improve the environmental awareness of employees, and accelerate landscaping efforts.
