Firefighting and Rescue Operations

19 August 2026, 9:1 248

In order to ensure the safety of workers employed at industrial facilities, as well as to improve the skills of rapid and coordinated response of rescue teams in emergency situations, practical measures are regularly implemented at the enterprise.

One of these exercises took place on August 17 at the Balykty site of the Yoshlik I mine. Its theme was “Firefighting and Rescue Operations”.

According to the scenario of the special tactical training exercises, as a result of a simulated strong earthquake at an industrial site, a short circuit occurred in the electrical equipment of a large crawler mounted mining shovel operating in a quarry. As a result, a large fire broke out, and the excavator operator found himself trapped in a dangerous area engulfed in flames.

At 09:00, the mine administration management received a prearranged signal to start the exercise, after which all relevant services were put on alert. Within five minutes, the civil defense service notified all personnel involved in the event, as well as emergency forces and resources.

In accordance with established regulations, rescuers from the civil defense team arrived at the scene at 09:10, and operational units from Fire Station No. 51 arrived at 09:15. Thanks to the coordinated actions of firefighters, the simulated fire on the excavator was completely extinguished by 09:30.

After this, rescuers and a three-person medical team began search and rescue operations. At 09:45 the victim was safely removed from the danger zone. He was given first aid on the spot and then handed over to medical specialists.

Summing up the results of the exercise, A. Akhrorov, Head of the Emergency Response Department at the Complex facilities, addressed the workers and provided the necessary recommendations on prevention of emergencies at industrial facilities, strict adherence to fire safety requirements, and the correct actions to take in the event of an emergency. Particular attention was paid to the need to remain calm and avoid panic in dangerous situations.

A similar demonstration seminar was held in the industrial water supply workshop. Its theme was “Prevention of emergency situations and ensuring fire safety is a priority!”

Speaking to the event participants, A. Akhrorov emphasized that the peace, safety, and health of each person, his family, and loved ones must always remain a top priority. He also noted that ensuring this safety largely depends on each of us, so we cannot remain indifferent to even minor factors that can cause a fire both in the workplace and at home.

At the end of the event, workers from the industrial water supply workshop, together with specialists from the Complex emergency response department and civil defense team members, began practical training. During the training, actions to quickly extinguish a simulated fire, safely evacuate victims from the fire zone, and provide them with first aid were successfully practiced.

Such practical tactical and special exercises serve as an important basis for the reliable protection of the Complex property and, most importantly, the lives and health of workers from various emergency situations and hazards.
