In pursuance of the order of Almalyk MMC JSC No. 1679 dated June 24, 2026, as well as strengthening security measures at production facilities, a large-scale demonstration seminar was held on June 30 at the copper concentrator on the topic: “Prevention of emergency situations and ensuring fire safety is a priority!”

The event was attended by A. Akhrorov, Head of the Complex Emergency Response Department; B. Abulkosimov, Deputy Head of the Civil Defense Unit; the plant management and responsible specialists; inspectors from the Almalyk Emergency Situations Department; members of the volunteer fire brigade; and plant employees.

Opening the seminar, Acting Chief Engineer of the Copper Concentrator, J. Ibragimov, emphasized that safety is the company’s top priority. According to him, the factory’s management pays special attention to fire safety: all production buildings are equipped with modern fire protection systems and evacuation plans. To improve the level of personnel training, theoretical and practical sessions are held quarterly, and throughout the year a special commission organizes systematic preventive inspections.

In his speech, A. Akhrorov analyzed the statistics of fires that have occurred in the republic since the beginning of the year. He pointed that the main causes of fires remain improper operation of electrical equipment, the use of homemade electric heaters, and excessive load on electrical networks. He also drew attention to the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning when starting heating appliances without prior preparation for the heating season. The speaker also recommended not to use flammable materials during construction and laying of electrical wiring in special protective corrugated sleeves.

It was separately emphasized that primary fire extinguishing agents are effective only at the initial stage of a fire. If a fire begins to spread rapidly, it is necessary to immediately report it to the state fire service.

In turn, B. Abulkosimov explained that rescue units are in constant preparedness not only to extinguish fires, but also to respond to earthquakes, floods, explosions, and other natural and man-made emergencies. He recalled the need to constantly keep passageways and emergency exits clear, noting that at a number of facilities, emergency doors that had previously been dismantled without permission have already been restored. According to him, one of the main reasons for emergency situations remains insufficient preparedness and a low level of knowledge in the field of safety.

During the seminar, participants were shown a documentary video on actions in emergency situations.

This was followed by a demonstration of specialized fire-fighting equipment, personal protective equipment for fire department personnel, and the capabilities of modern fire-fighting equipment.

The practical part of the event concluded with a demonstration of extinguishing a simulated fire. Members of the volunteer fire brigade demonstrated the use of primary fire extinguishing equipment to extinguish a fire at its initial stage.
