Compliance with occupational health and safety requirements is an integral part of the production process. The lives and health of workers, the safety of production assets, and the efficiency of the enterprise directly depend on it. Therefore, Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex regularly analyzes its performance in this area and identifies further improvement measures.

The latest extended meeting on occupational health and safety was held on 16 April at the “Metallurg” Palace of Culture. It was attended by Shukhrat Juraev, Head of AMMC Occupational Health and Safety Department, the representatives of the Almalyk Industrial Safety Inspectorate and the Town Mining Technical Inspectorate, the heads of the central office and structural divisions, the Trade Union Council, and specialists from relevant services.

Opening the meeting, the organizers briefed the participants on the agenda and noted that four accidents had occurred at the Complex facilities from the beginning of the year to April. This indicator, as was emphasized, once again confirms the need for strict compliance with industrial safety requirements.

Head of the Occupational Health and Safety Department, Shukhrat Juraev, presented the detailed report on the work completed. He stated that since June 2025, Complex has been implementing a system for training, professional development, and retraining of engineering and technical personnel, and also detailed the results of a three-stage occupational safety monitoring program.

It was noted that a new methodology for conducting first- and second-level inspections using checklists has been implemented at the Central Repair and Mechanical Plant. This has made monitoring more systematic, transparent, and effective. During the reporting period, 169 inspections were conducted, identifying 5,314 safety violations. As a result, 136 orders were issued, and over 300 employees were disciplined.

The meeting also included a comparative analysis of occupational injuries for the first quarter of 2026 compared to the same period last year. The participants emphasized that even failure to comply with basic occupational safety requirements can lead to serious consequences.

Particular attention was paid to objectives for the second quarter of 2026. Key areas include events for World Day for Safety and Health at Work, celebrated annually on 28April, recertification according to the international standard ISO 45001:2018, organizing safety seminars and training, professional development for specialists, updating internal regulations and instructions, implementing an "Occupational Health and Safety" information system, and developing training videos on accidents using artificial intelligence technologies.

The meeting also heard reports from the heads of several structural divisions. Furthermore, the specialists reported that information on hazardous production facilities is being entered into the “Ecosystem” information system, and their re-identification is planned for the second half of the year. Separately, issues of improving the quality of employee medical examinations and preventing occupational diseases were discussed.

Following the meeting, a number of practical tasks were identified. These include mandatory briefings before repair works, expanded use of video surveillance systems to monitor production processes, a revision of occupational risk matrices taking into account new assessment methods, strengthening third-level monitoring using checklists, installing dust reduction equipment near mine workings, and verifying the correct use of personal protective equipment by mine workers.

Also discussed were the distribution of final materials on occupational health and safety for the first quarter of 2026 to all structural divisions, increased liability for violating safety requirements, and the further development of a safety culture at the plant's facilities.

In addition, it was proposed to introduce a special coupon-based control system in industrial and technological transport departments starting April 24, aimed at preventing violations of labor protection and industrial safety requirements and improving discipline in this area.
