Digitalization of the technological production chain ensures high efficiency

18 February 2025, 13:11 15125

On 14 February this year, the summary meeting was held at the Almalyk branch of National University of Science and Technology "MISIS" about the works carried out within the framework of the “Digital AMMC-2030” Concept at the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex and on the projects planned for 2025-2028.

It was attended by the Chairman of Board of AMMC Abdulla Khursanov, the heads of structural divisions, the specialists, as well as teachers and students of the Almalyk branch of Tashkent State Technical University and the Almalyk branch of NUST "MISIS".

First, the Head of the Information technologies department Aziz Rozikulov reported on the work performed in 2024 within the framework of the “Digital AMMC-2030” Concept.

According to him, the 27 digitalization events and projects were implemented in 2024 at AMMC. In particular, 9 projects were implemented on the automation of production processes. In particular, the mimic diagrams (SCADA) of the Copper smelting plant and the 2nd Copper concentrator plant were transferred to a completely new system, creating the opportunity to analyze additional process data. For proper distribution of ore levels in the hoppers at the 2nd Copper concentrator plant, 4 laser sensors and 4 modern scales were installed, creating the opportunity to online control the trolley and homogeneously supply ore to the mill feed bins.

As a result of implemented 8 projects of optimizing business and operational processes, the optimization and efficiency of production processes were increased. The “ARM EnRS” information system for repairing electric motors was created by the programmers of the Production automation department. This information system digitizes 7,000 paper orders for repair per year. By analyzing 7,000 engines of the Complex, the repair time is optimized by 2 times.

The 10 implemented projects of IT infrastructure development and increasing cybersecurity have made it possible to modernize server capacity, increase the reliability of network infrastructure and information systems. To increase the information security, the implementation of the Corporate Network Access Control (NAC) system has enabled centralized control of all users and devices (more than 5,000).

Today, the modern systems, automation of technological and business processes, increasing the competitiveness of industrial enterprises, artificial intelligence technologies are becoming the important factor.

Within the framework of the "Digital Uzbekistan-2030" strategy, several dozens of projects on digitization were implemented in AMMC by 2024. In the recent years, the key attention has been paid to improving data collection and reporting. Currently, AMMC is focusing on developing analytics with the use of big data, launching a system for collecting, processing and creating dashboards of analytical reports that allow monitoring key business and production indicators.

In his report, A. Rozikulov highlighted the key areas for developing a digitization strategy in AMMC:

- Process automation systems – Automation of production processes, reduction of the human factor and control of process operations;

- Development of IT infrastructure – Modernization of server capacity, development of network infrastructure and increase in reliability of information systems;

- Information systems: Implementation of software solutions for data management, improvement of efficiency of business processes;

- Corporate information systems: Creation of single digital space of the enterprise and optimization of management processes;

- Development and strengthening of information security: Protection of corporate data and introduction of modern cybersecurity tools;

- Cloud solutions: Transition to cloud technologies, expansion of IT infrastructure;

- Operational support: Updating software, ensuring uninterrupted operation of digital systems.

Also, A. Rozikulov, presenting the key directions of the projects planned for implementation in 2025-2028, drew everyone's attention to the fact that the general goal of these projects is to organize production processes more efficiently and automatically.

He noted that these projects cover the areas such as further improvement of automation systems, real-time monitoring and analysis of data, optimization of corporate information systems and software solutions, ensuring digital security and developing cybersecurity systems.

During the event, the management of AMMC emphasized the need for a phased and complete digitalization of the production process chain of the Complex, for which the head of each structural unit must keep up with the times.

At the event, the proposals and comments were made on the wide introduction of information technologies into production, especially the widespread use of artificial intelligence capabilities.
