Public hearings were held

13 November 2024, 14:43 270

Currently, within the framework of the investment project “Development of the “Yoshlik I” deposit” and the II stage of expansion of the production of non-ferrous and precious metals, the project “Construction of Copper concentrator plant-4 (CCP-4) based on the deposits of JSC “Almalyk MMC” is being implemented.

In order to assess the environmental impact of this project, public hearings were held in the Murotali makhalla of the Pskent district on November 12 of this year.

The event was attended by representatives of the Inspectorate for Ecology, Environmental protection and climate change of the district region, responsible persons and specialists of the district khokimiyat and the Almalyk mining and metallurgical complex, members of the “Makhalla Seven” and residents of the makhallas.

Acting first deputy director of the project office for the implementation of the investment project “Development of the “Yoshlik I” deposit” Aziz Muratov made a presentation of the new Copper concentrator plant No. 4.

During the public discussion, the guests were told about the impact of the new enterprise on the environment, as well as about the technologies used there.

- On October 15 of this year, during the visit of the Head of our state Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the Almalyk mining and metallurgical complex, the construction of Copper concentrator plant No. 4 was launched. As a result of the implementation of this project, the volume of production of non-ferrous and precious metals will increase and more than 3 thousand new jobs will be created. In the future, the youth of our city will work at this plant. Every year, the plant will process 60 million tons of ore and produce more than 800 thousand tons of copper concentrate. The demand for copper on the world market is growing day by day. It is worth noting that the plant will use modern, environmentally friendly and cost-effective technologies. The introduction of cyclic-flow technology allows for the primary crushing of ore from the quarry directly before its transportation to the plant via a conveyor belt without noise and dust. The interior of the plant’s tailings storage facility will be covered with a 2 mm thick geomembrane, and the soil underneath will be compacted. This will prevent water from seeping into the soil. An aeration system will also be used to control dust spread during ore loading – dust suppression by spraying water. In the production process of CCP-4, a modern technology for thickening flotation residues will be introduced, which will reduce the need for water by 50% compared to CCP-3, said Aziz Muratov.

Those present received handouts regarding the project. The responsible persons also provided full information about the role of the project in the development of the Pskent district and improvement of the environment.

Residents of the district makhallas received detailed answers to their questions from specialists.
