Copper concentrator-3: energy-efficient technology is being introduced

12 January 2024, 9:8 694

AMMC continues to implement the investment project “Development of the Yoshlik I deposit”, within the framework of which the construction of Copper concentrator No. 3 is underway.

At the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex, work continues on the implementation of the investment project “Development of the Yoshlik I deposit”, within the framework of which the Yoshlik I quarry has been prepared for ore mining, the construction of a crushing and reloading plant at this mine and main conveyor lines has been completed. The construction of Copper concentrator-3 is also intensively underway, work continues on the construction of infrastructure facilities necessary for the production activities of the mine and factory, including railways, workshops for the repair and assembly of mining transport equipment, external energy supply facilities, etc.

Currently, electrical equipment is being installed and adjusted. As the chief power engineer of Copper concentrator-3 Otabek Turdiboev said, the total power supply capacity of the factory is 465 MW. In total, the enterprise has 3 main step-down substations. It is planned to install foreign-made transformers at these substations - 8 transformers with a capacity of 100 MW and 2 transformers with a capacity of 63 MW. To date, 6 main transformers have been installed. In particular, 2 transformers with a capacity of 100 MW are installed at step-down substation No. 1 and 2 transformers with a capacity of 100 MW are installed at step-down substation No. 2. The main step-down substations No. 1 and No. 3 are fully equipped with the necessary electrical equipment. Currently, commissioning work is underway. At the main step-down substation No. 2, additional devices for two transformers are being installed.

It is worth noting that in order to ensure stable and uninterrupted operation of electrical equipment, the most modern equipment from the world's leading manufacturers is supplied and installed at the factory. In particular, electric motors for roller crushers with a power of 3,450 kW, for bead mills with a power of 1,800 kW, for slurry pumps with a power of 1,200 kW, for coarse and medium crushers with a power of 800 kW and 8,000 kW have been delivered and are ready for installation.

Let us remind you that the power supply to Copper concentrator No. 3, as well as the “Kalmakyr” and “Yoshlik” quarries, will be provided by the “Tukket” digital transformer substation with a voltage class of 500/110/10 kV, the grand opening of which and commissioning took place on December 22, 2023.

Currently, on the basis of the Resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On accelerated measures to increase the energy efficiency of economic and social sectors, the introduction of energy-saving technologies and the development of renewable energy sources,” one of the current directions of state policy in our country at the present stage has become the increase in energy efficiency of production, the introduction of energy-saving technologies. In particular, in order to increase energy efficiency, a digital energy supply system will be introduced at CC-3. This system will allow you to control the consumption of energy resources with the help of an energy dispatch service, and work to prevent emergency situations. In addition, the digital system will be controlled remotely, which will ensure safe operation.

It is also planned to develop projects to use alternative energy sources in the future.

Currently, work is underway on the phased commissioning of the department of the chief power engineer of the factory. Energy services are organized in the workshops of the enterprise.

As of January 1, 2024, 17.6 million cubic meters of excavation work (89%), 594.3 thousand cubic meters of concrete work (76%), 84.2 thousand tons of reinforcement work (81%) were completed at the CC-3 construction site, installation of technological equipment (25%) and metal structures (17%). In addition, 40% of the work on power supply to the enterprise has been completed.
