Against the background of the dynamic development of cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Russian Federation, in particular in the scientific and educational sphere, on May 2, the delegation from the Russian Federation headed by the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Valery Falkov visited our country.
During the visit, the delegation, accompanied by the First Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shokhrukh Daliev and Rector of National research technological university (NRTU) “MISiS” Alevtina Chernikova visited the Almalyk branch of this higher educational institution.
The guests got acquainted with the educational and scientific activities of the Almalyk branch, examined the conditions created for students' study and leisure. The delegation visited educational laboratories, classrooms, and talked with students and faculty.
"We see that the branch has taken place as a project, it is actively and harmoniously developing. All opportunities have been created here for obtaining high—quality higher education, educating young people with an understanding of the diversity of culture and history of Russia and Uzbekistan, and the dynamics of friendship between our countries," V. Falkov said.
Also, with the participation of the guests, the laboratory of physical and mechanical properties of rocks was opened.
At the end of the visit, the Minister took part in a tree planting ceremony on the territory of the Almalyk branch.
Within the framework of the round table with representatives of the business community of the Republic of Uzbekistan, a wide range of issues were discussed, including strengthening the role of employers in the development and implementation of educational programs, increasing the volume of production practices and internships, attracting students to solving real production problems.
"The branch of MISiS University in Almalyk city of the Republic of Uzbekistan was established in 2018. During this time, we have managed to form a highly professional teaching staff. Together with business partners, we conduct research activities, develop educational programs, organize internships and internships for students, implement infrastructure and social projects. The knowledge, skills and competencies acquired by the students of the Almalyk branch of NRTU “MISiS” are the solid foundation for building the successful professional path. Many graduates of 2023 received job offers while still studying and are already working in the leading companies in Uzbekistan: “Almalyk MMC” JSC, “Uzmetkombinat” JSC, “Navoi MMC” JSC, “Tashkent Metallurgical Plant”, “Tashkent Pipe Plant”, etc. I am sure that young specialists will make a significant contribution to the development of the Republic's industry, strengthening ties between our countries," said Alevtina Chernikova, the Rector of the NRTU “MISiS”.
For information: the branch's infrastructure allows for research in the field of metallurgy and mining: the branch has more than 20 specialized laboratories and centers equipped with modern equipment. The branch has more than 850 students from all over the country. In 2022, the first graduation took place — 85% of the former students were employed at the leading mining and metallurgical enterprises of Uzbekistan, the rest continued their studies at the master's degree program at MISiS University. In 2024, two bachelor's degree programs will be added to the already existing areas of Mining, Metallurgy and Automation of Technological Processes: Economics and Information Systems and Technologies.
