Man-made waste from the "Ingichka" tungsten mine is processed and enriched
Despite the proposed opening of new mines around the world, the increase in ore reserves lags behind the growing needs of the industry. As a result, great attention is being paid not only to maximizing the level of use of continental mines, but also to the development of secondary raw materials, man-made mines, as well as ore reserves.
The concept of the development of the metallurgical industry of Uzbekistan defines the tasks and priority directions for the development of non-ferrous metallurgy both in primary production and enrichment, and by developing and introducing innovative technologies that allow the extraction of valuable products from man-made secondary raw materials. According to paragraph 3 of the order No 06/1-1682 dated February 3, 2022 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the local authority of Samarkand region and the State Geological Committee have been orgedered to transfer the selected land areas of the "Ingichka" mine for processing and enrichment of tungsten-containing waste to the "Almalyk MMC" in the prescribed manner.
Also, in order to ensure the implementation of the decree No 198-F dated April 26, 2022 of the Cabinet of Ministers, a number of works are being carried out on production of new types of high added value exportable products at the expense of processing of man-made waste from the "Ingichka" tungsten mine and extraction of tungsten concentrate. Currently, one of the urgent tasks facing industrial enterprises is the processing of man-made waste accumulated over the years.
In particular, in order to start up the technological equipment for the processing of man-made waste containing tungsten from the "Ingichka" mine, to maintain the technological equipment in the industrial waste basin, the workers of the scientific production association "On the production of rare metals and hard alloys" have been sent on a business trip.
Tungsten man-made waste will be processed at this site and tungsten concentrate will be obtained. The main goal is to increase the tungsten production capacity by several times.
Tungsten concentrate separated from processing is delivered to production department "On the production of rare metals and hard alloys". As a result, it will be possible to restore tungsten production based on local products.
The new technology makes it possible to obtain a pure concentrate containing 80-83 percent tungsten (III) oxide. On-site processing of production waste will be launched, and 100-150 new jobs will be created. Many social problems will be solved with the introduction of new production at the Ingichka mine itself.
According to the development program of "Scientific Production Association for the Production of Rare Metals and Hard Alloys" of "Almalyk MMC" JSC, it is planned to enrich 150 tons of tungsten concentrate with 35 percent tungsten (III) oxide (WO3) from the residues of the Ingichka mine. Later, about 100 tons of tungsten metal is produced per year when the remains of the Ingichka mine are involved in production.
In this direction, the experts of production department "On the production of rare metals and hard alloys" of Almalyk mining and metallurgical complex JSC have been working effectively for several years.
