The Rare Metals and Hard Alloys Research and Production Association of AMMC has produced molybdenum of 99.85% purity.
In June this year, a new high-temperature roaster furnace for the production of metallic molybdenum was commissioned as part of the pyrometallurgical shop for molybdenum-tungsten production.
As a result of launching the new equipment it was possible to obtain and produce pure metallic molybdenum with the content of 99.85%, i.e. to reduce the oxygen content to 0.06%. Previously, molybdenum of 96.4% purity and 1.0% oxygen content was produced here.
The pyrometallurgical shop for the production of molybdenum and tungsten at the Research and Production Association currently has a production capacity of 820 tons of molybdenum products. The new site has an annual production capacity of 450 tons with a 99.85% yield.
This material is widely used to fabricate metal targets for thin nanocoatings, parts used in the semiconductor industry.
