20 February 2026, 9:46 399

Economic ties between Uzbekistan and the UK continue to strengthen and reach a qualitatively new level. In this process, the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex rightfully gains one of the key places.

On February 19 of this year, a delegation headed by the British Prime Minister’s Special Trade Representative for Central Asia and Azerbaijan, Lord John Alderdice, visited the AMMC. This visit became plain evidence of the active development of bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

As part of the program, guests, accompanied by Abdulla Khursanov, Chairman of the Board of Almalyk MMC JSC, learned about the activities of the Metallurg Palace of Culture, visited the Suyurlitepa archaeological site, and the Complex museum, which presents the history of the Complex formation and development.

The next point on the route was the observation deck of the Kalmakyr mine. The ore mining process left a strong impression on the delegation members due to its scale and technological level. The Yoshlik I mine, a promising project recognized by experts as one of the most significant in terms of reserves, also attracted particular interest. The start of its construction was given in 2017 by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The guests also visited Copper Concentrator No. 3, built as part of a large-scale investment project. Equipped with advanced technologies from leading global manufacturers, the Concentrator has a processing capacity of up to 60 million tons of ore per year. Thus, the delegation was able to see that the Complex is demonstrating sustainable growth and modernization dynamics.

During the visit, the British delegation also learned in detail about the activities of the engineering school, an educational platform to retrain the Complex specialists and training of personnel for other industrial enterprises.

During the bilateral meeting, prospects for further cooperation were discussed, as well as plans for the initial public offering of AMMC bonds on one of Europe largest and oldest exchanges, the London Stock Exchange.

In conclusion, it is safe to say that the British delegation visit once again confirmed that the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex is not only a pillar of Uzbekistan industry, but also a driver of industrial development for the entire region.
